Paul Giess and Amy K Bormet share an evening of adventurous, boundary-crossing music at Rhizome DC. Philadelphia trumpeter, producer, and educator Paul Giess performs solo trumpet and electronics, bringing an expressive approach shaped by jazz, spontaneous composition, sound design, funk, and electronic textures.

Amy K Bormet is a pianist, vocalist, composer, and co-owner of Strange Woman Records. She is the creator, producer, and performer of the Washington Women in Jazz Festival, which is in its 15th year, and has worked with Fay Victor, Mary Halvorson, Allison Miller, and more than 75 women and non-binary musicians from around the world. Her creative interests include science-fiction songs and close-listening improvisation.

Giess has performed with artists including Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Grant Calvin Weston, Yolanda Wisher, and Guthrie Ramsey. His releases include *U Suite U* and *Hymns Vol. 1*, featuring vocalist V. Shayne Frederick. He has also been releasing recordings from *Untethered*, a live-performance project exploring spontaneous creative composition with drummer Grant Calvin Weston and Philadelphia musicians Lee Clarke and Timothy Ragsdale.
