Enjoy a fall evening at Hillwood Estate with a classic film screening of *The Pajama Game* (1957), paired with self-guided exploration of the mansion, gardens, and a special textile exhibition. Guests can reserve a seated dinner at Merriweather Café between 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. and are encouraged to dress in 1950s period attire or pajama-inspired outfits to receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. The film begins at 7:30 p.m. and seating is first-come, first-served.

When: Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Timeline: From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., guests may explore Hillwood’s mansion, gardens, greenhouse, and the special exhibition *Interwoven: A Tradition of Textiles*, as well as the museum shop. Dinner at Merriweather Café is available by reservation between 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. The film screening takes place from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. in the visitor center theater (Dina Merrill Pavilion, CW Post, and Merriweather Room B).

Tickets: Prices are $22 for adults, $12 for Hillwood members, and $7 for students. Tickets are not yet available at the time of listing.

Film: *The Pajama Game* (1957), directed by George Abbott and Stanley Donen, stars Doris Day as Babe Williams and John Raitt as Sid Sorokin. The musical follows a labor dispute at an Iowa pajama factory, where workers demand a seven-and-a-half-cent raise, and a romance blossoms between a worker and the new superintendent.

Dress Code: Guests who make a dinner reservation and wear 1950s period-themed attire or pajama party-inspired outfits receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine with their meal.

Venue: Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens, located in Washington, D.C. The estate’s mansion, gardens, greenhouse, and special exhibition are open for self-guided exploration during the first portion of the event.

Note: Dinner reservations for full-service dining at Merriweather Café are required and can be made via Resy. The film screening is first-come, first-served with no reserved seats. Hillwood membership is available and provides discounted ticket prices.
