Drop-In Paper-Making Workshop

Join the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center for a hands-on, drop-in paper-making workshop held alongside the opening of *Bearing Witness*, an exhibition by artist Marta Pérez García. The exhibition will be displayed in the atrium of H.J. Patterson Hall from September 15 through October 15, 2026.

Pérez García’s *Restos-Traces* series consists of sculptural female torsos created in response to the rise in domestic violence against women during the COVID-19 pandemic. Made from handmade paper and materials such as metal wire, bones, and nails, the figures reflect the physical and emotional aftermath of gender-based violence while also suggesting resilience and empowerment. The work honors victims and survivors, with particular attention to Puerto Rico’s persistently high rates of femicide.
