Make+Take: Japanese Stab Binding is a beginner-friendly workshop at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center where participants learn two variations of the traditional Japanese stab binding technique, a simple method for binding single sheets of paper into a book format ideal for journals and preserving memorabilia. Led by multidisciplinary artist and bookbinder Amaal Younes, the session combines hands-on making with cultural craft knowledge, and all materials are provided so attendees just need to come ready to have fun.

When: Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Instructor: Amaal Younes, a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and craft-based practitioner born in Cairo, Egypt, now based in Washington, DC. Her work explores material exploration, storytelling, and the cultural intimacy of handmade objects, and she co-founded Grain Studio, a bookbinding and craft initiative.
