An Afternoon with Rachel Levitin
An Afternoon with Rachel Levitin is an interactive, conversational live-music matinee led by singer-songwriter and executive producer Rachel Levitin. Hosted and guided by award-winning vocalist Jarreau Williams, the afternoon also features Griefcat and offers a relaxed setting for listeners to step away from everyday pressures and connect with Levitin’s music and creative story.
The performance marks several milestones in Levitin’s career, including 30 years as a music student, 27 years as a songwriter, 21 years since her debut album *Come As You Are*, 20 years living in the District of Columbia, and 10 years since the release of the fan-favorite *Get Back Up*. It culminates in the world premiere of “Eulogy,” a new song written, recorded, and performed in memory of Levitin’s grandfather, Edwin H. Levitin, who died in February 2026.
Levitin grew up in Chicago and began playing guitar as a tween after developing an eclectic appreciation for jazz, early-2000s radio pop, and expressive songwriting. After moving to Washington, D.C., in 2005, she became known as a confident performer and an active supporter of fellow musicians. Her debut EP, *Nearly Broken*, arrived in 2015, followed by singles including “Off My Mind” in 2021. During the 2020 live-music shutdown, she expanded into music production and advocacy around gender inequity in the industry, ultimately self-producing her debut LP, released on her 37th birthday, March 21, 2024. Her sound pairs the energy of early-2000s pop-rock with emotionally open, hard-won lyricism.
