Rock for Schools II is a benefit concert supporting Educate Fairfax, a nonprofit that works with Fairfax County Public Schools to provide school supplies, scholarships, and grants for educational innovation. The second annual event brings together three teacher-connected bands for an evening of live music at Jammin’ Java.

The lineup spans energetic rock, hip-hop party selections, pop rock, classic rock, and songs associated with the MTV era. The Pool Boys, The Aftermath, and The Randos each offer a distinct repertoire, with several performers working as teachers in Fairfax County or Arlington schools.

Schedule: Doors open at 4:00 p.m.; the show begins at 5:00 p.m. The event listing runs until 10:00 p.m.

Lineup: The Pool Boys, The Aftermath, and The Randos

The Pool Boys: This Herndon, Virginia, rock cover band performs high-energy selections by artists including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, the Doobie Brothers, and Van Halen, along with hip-hop party songs associated with Eminem, Nelly, Dr. Dre, and Run-DMC. Guitarist and vocalist Dan Blanchet also chairs the social studies department at Madison High School in Vienna.

The Aftermath: This party pop-rock band plays favorites from the 1980s through today, including music by Jimmy Eat World, Wheatus, No Doubt, Lit, Bon Jovi, and the Killers. Lead vocalist Molly Jepsen teaches math at Madison High School in Vienna.

The Randos: Based in Vienna and Arlington, The Randos focus on music from the height of MTV, with songs connected to The Cure, R.E.M., INXS, and Men at Work. Their set also reaches back to artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival and Fleetwood Mac and forward to performers including Neon Trees and Chris Stapleton. Lead singer Kristy Woldow is a music teacher in Arlington, while multi-instrumentalist Beau Dure is a substitute teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools.

Purpose: Proceeds benefit Educate Fairfax and its work providing school supplies, scholarships, and education innovation grants for Fairfax County Public Schools.
