Commence with Crafts invites attendees to spend an afternoon creating at the African American Digital & Experimental Humanities studio. Participants can cut, paste, and stitch their ideas into embroidery, jewelry, scrapbooks, or quilts, or use the studio’s equipment to produce stickers, buttons, tote bags, and laser-cut wooden objects.

The program is part of NextNOW Fest, the University of Maryland’s multi-day arts festival, which brings together performances and participatory experiences by artists from the university and around the country. The festival is open to the general public and emphasizes creativity, community, technology, and social engagement.
