Arturo O'Farrill Quintet

Arturo O’Farrill brings his quintet to Blues Alley for a program that connects traditional Latin rhythms with modern jazz and contemporary composition. The Mexican American composer, pianist, and bandleader is a six-time GRAMMY winner and two-time Latin GRAMMY winner known for genre-defying performances and for using music to promote cultural dialogue, diversity, and social justice.

O’Farrill founded and serves as artistic director of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and Belongó, formerly the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. His nearly 25 albums and compositions have involved artists and organizations including the San Francisco Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, and pianist Lara Downes. The engagement is co-presented with the Embassy of Cuba.
