Arturo O'Farrill Quintet

Arturo O’Farrill Quintet brings six-time GRAMMY-winning Mexican American composer, pianist, and bandleader Arturo O’Farrill to Blues Alley. His music connects traditional Latin rhythms, modern jazz, and contemporary composition, combining virtuosic performance with a deep commitment to his cultural roots and to social and political justice.

O’Farrill is the founder and artistic director of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and Belongó, formerly the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. He is also an educator and advocate for diversity and unity. A two-time Latin GRAMMY winner who has released nearly 25 albums, he has written works performed by artists and organizations including Cornel West, Lara Downes, the San Francisco Ballet, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. His commissions include projects for Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, and other major institutions. The event is co-presented with the Embassy of Cuba.
