THE WELLERMEN
The Wellermen bring their USA 2026 Tour to Birchmere for an evening of contemporary folk rooted in traditional East Coast sounds, British musicianship, theatrical performance, and rich five-part vocal harmonies. Their live show reflects the group’s evolution from viral sea shanty performers into a transatlantic folk band focused on storytelling, connection, and original material.
The band first gained worldwide attention in 2021 through viral performances of “Wellerman,” a phenomenon that generated billions of views and led to appearances at The BRIT Awards and on *The Late Show with Stephen Colbert*. Their current sound combines the East Coast folk backgrounds of American bass vocalists Bobby Waters and Luke Taylor with the musicianship of British performers Jonny Stewart and Seb Payne, alongside the theatrical energy of Sam Pope, a former West End performer. Their distinctive dual-bass vocal foundation adds unusual depth to the ensemble’s five-part harmonies. The group’s repertoire includes material from the EP *1778* as well as forthcoming original songs.
