THE WELLERMEN

The Wellermen, the sea shanty group that ignited a global phenomenon in 2021 with their viral performances, bring their USA 2026 Tour to the Birchmere for a single evening of powerful harmonies and contemporary folk music. What began as a digital sensation—earning billions of views and leading to appearances at The BRIT Awards and on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert—has grown into a fully realized transatlantic live band. The ensemble blends American East Coast folk roots with British musicianship and theatrical energy, featuring basses Bobby Waters and Luke Taylor from the U.S., British musicians Jonny Stewart and Seb Payne, and West End performer Sam Pope. Their rare dual-bass vocal foundation creates a depth and richness that sets them apart, and they are currently moving into their next chapter with their EP *1778* and upcoming original material, honoring traditional roots music while building a contemporary folk sound centered on harmony and storytelling.
