Leonid & Friends brings an 11-piece ensemble to The Birchmere for a high-energy celebration of classic Chicago and other rock, pop, and jazz-fusion music from the 1970s. The group is known for exceptionally precise arrangements, powerful vocal harmonies, a tightly synchronized horn section, and an expansive sound that recreates the spirit of the original recordings while adding its own energetic stage presence.
Founded by musician and producer Leonid Vorobyev, the collective features accomplished vocalists and instrumentalists from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and other countries. It began as a Moscow studio project whose exacting video covers became a worldwide online sensation, earning recognition from members of Chicago. Since then, the band has performed internationally across North America, Europe, and Asia, accumulated more than 500 million video views, and completed multiple sold-out U.S. tours.
The concert is expected to feature Chicago favorites including “25 or 6 to 4,” “Make Me Smile,” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day,” “Beginnings,” “Questions 67 & 68,” and “Hard to Say I’m Sorry / Get Away.” The repertoire may also include selections associated with Earth, Wind & Fire, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Steely Dan, The Carpenters, and other major 1970s acts.
