Installation: Claire Alrich - dance, dance, dance

Claire Alrich’s *dance, dance, dance* is a moveable textile installation created specifically for Rhizome DC’s upstairs space. The work transforms the room into a three-dimensional painting that visitors can enter, using fabric, light, movement, and audience participation to create an environment centered on change, embodiment, and experimentation. Visitors are invited to engage with the installation as directors of its month-long “dance” and to experience the space as a place to inhabit a softer, more responsive body.

Alrich is a multidisciplinary artist based in Northeast DC whose practice focuses on the body and somatic experience across site-specific choreography, immersive installation, and sewn collage. A trained dancer, she has shown work in theaters, galleries, public parks, back decks, and other unconventional spaces around the city. Her background includes co-founding the performance collective Area Woman, performing with darlingdance, creating costumes for Heart Stück Bernie and Extreme Lengths Productions, and coordinating Field/DC while leading workshops in the Fieldwork feedback method. Her work is supported by a DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Individual Artist Fellowship.
