Tregaron Unplugged

Washington Performing Arts and Tregaron Conservancy present Tregaron Unplugged, an afternoon of music, movement, and discovery throughout Tregaron Conservancy. Guests can create their own path across the terraces, lawns, meadows, and pathways, encountering jazz, Hindustani music, acoustic songwriting, West African drumming and dance, yoga, a sound bath, and an immersive site-specific soundwalk.

The event also features local vendors and community partners offering food, goods, and opportunities to connect with organizations from across the region. The program marks Tregaron Conservancy’s 20th anniversary and Washington Performing Arts’ 60th anniversary, celebrating the role of the arts in bringing people together in shared public spaces.

Shipman Terrace: Johnny Walker Jr. and his quartet perform jazz from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in an intimate setting surrounded by the gardens and landscape.

South Lawn: Flutist Deepak Ram presents Hindustani music from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Klingle Valley Trail Entrance: Chromic’s GPS-enabled soundwalk, “Shimmers in the Field,” runs from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The immersive work combines storytelling with toy-piano sounds and invites reflection on connection, wonder, and legacy. Guides lead visitors through the experience every 30 minutes during the event. Afterward, the soundwalk remains available for independent exploration for one year. East Meadow: Singer-songwriter Sadie Kane performs acoustic music from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. Her pop-influenced, confessional songs explore queer love, nostalgia, and introspection, drawing on her Washington, D.C., base and Oklahoma roots.

East Meadow: Dante Bank leads an outdoor yoga and sound-bath session from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., combining movement, sound, and stillness in the surrounding landscape.

North Meadow: Ni Dembaya offers an interactive West African drumming and dance experience from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The program encourages audiences to listen, learn, dance, and join the rhythm, and is described as suitable for all ages.

Logistics: Visitors can use a map of Tregaron Conservancy to navigate between the activity areas. Food, goods, and community information will be available from local vendors and partner organizations.
