Salon Concert featuring Dashiell Waterbury and James Sparks
This salon concert presents tenor Dashiell Waterbury and pianist James Sparks in Franz Schubert’s complete song cycle *Die Winterreise*, D911. The program unfolds in the historic Arts Club of Washington, whose Salon Concert Series is designed to evoke the atmosphere of the period in which the music was composed. The performance is followed by a reception with the artists.
Waterbury brings extensive experience in opera, musical theater, art song, Shakespeare, and stage direction, while Sparks is a collaborative pianist and vocal coach who has worked with singers in recital, competition, and performance settings in the United States and abroad.

Showtimes: Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m. and runs until 9:00 p.m., followed by a reception with the artists.

About Dashiell Waterbury: Waterbury has performed opera, musical theater, and art song for more than two decades. He holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a second master’s degree in Stage Directing from Florida State University. His operatic roles have included leading parts in *The Magic Flute*, *La Bohème*, *Die Fledermaus*, *Pagliacci*, *The Rake’s Progress*, *Gianni Schicchi*, and *Roméo et Juliette*, as well as the title role in *The Phantom of the Opera*. His theater credits include Benedick in *Much Ado About Nothing*, Mark Antony in *Julius Caesar*, and Mercutio in *Romeo and Juliet*. Based in Washington, D.C., he recently appeared as the tenor soloist Uriel in Haydn’s *The Creation* with the Washington City Choir and the National Symphony Orchestra.
About James Sparks: Sparks is a Kentucky-born collaborative pianist and vocal coach. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Morehead State University and a Master of Music in Vocal Coaching and Piano Accompanying from Westminster Choir College. His work is noted for expressive playing, attentive collaboration, and thoughtful coaching. He has partnered with vocal artists across the United States and internationally, including engagements in France, Germany, and Switzerland.
Series: The concert is part of the Salon Concert Series, presented by the Classical Music Committee of the Arts Club of Washington. The Arts Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
