STARCLEANER REUNION: TOUR FOR A RAINY DAY

Starcleaner Reunion brings its expansive, collage-like approach to alternative rock to Songbyrd, with The Smashing Times joining as special guest. The band’s sound draws from Brazilian psychedelia, C86 jangle, and 1990s noise, combining poetic abstraction with carefully developed sonic textures.

Formed by vocalist and tambourine player Jo Roman, guitarists Pat Drummond and Neil Torman, and bassist Adam Kenter, the group members grew up together in Springfield, New Jersey, and first played in various combinations during high school. Their name comes from a 1970s children’s book about magical beings that restore light to the sky. Their releases include the quickly recorded 2023 EP *Club Estrella* and the more expansive 2024 EP *Café Life*. After extensive touring and refinement of their material, the band introduced a broader new direction with the single “Weather Instrument.”

The bill also features Baltimore’s The Smashing Times, whose music is described as psychedelic freakbeat from a basement setting.
