Evren Ozel, winner of the Bronze Medal at the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, presents a program that pairs Beethoven’s final three piano sonatas with selected pieces from György Kurtág’s *Játékok* (Games). The juxtaposition contrasts Beethoven’s restless, forward-looking works—which helped usher in the Romantic era—with Kurtág’s intimate, playful miniatures that capture the joy of musical discovery. The recital is part of the Hayes Piano Series, presented by Washington Performing Arts in cooperation with the Peabody Institute and Hopkins Bloomberg Center.
