David Goodfriend • Skip Casale
David Goodfriend and Skip Casale share an evening of original music at Hank Dietle’s Tavern. Goodfriend’s solo set draws from his work with Goin’ Goin’ Gone as well as songs he wrote that the band never performed, while Casale brings a blues-focused approach to guitar and drums shaped by improvisation and spontaneity.
Goodfriend has been part of Goin’ Goin’ Gone for more than 40 years and previously formed the duo The Beverly Brothers with Russ Beeker, which performed at Kramerbooks for over a decade. Casale, a longtime guitarist and drummer, turned decisively toward the blues after an experience that convinced him he could play it. His musical philosophy emphasizes surrendering to the moment, treating music as a conversational skill open to everyone.
