SHANNON SHAW BAND (OF SHANNON AND THE CLAMS)

Thu, Jul 30, 2026at 7:00 PM
540 Penn Street Northeast, Washington, DC
Price not available
Featuring: Shannon Shaw Band, Georgia Maq

Shannon Shaw, the commanding singer and bassist best known for her work with Shannon and the Clams and Hunx and His Punx, brings her solo band to Songbyrd Music House for a one-night performance. In 2018 she released her debut solo album, *Shannon in Nashville*, on Easy Eye Sound, produced by Dan Auerbach. The record is a cinematic blend of vintage pop, country soul, and heartbreak balladry that earned widespread praise—Pitchfork called it “a diamond” that “sounds like Roy Orbison and his musicians lost in the Brill Building.” Since the album, Shaw has toured internationally, including dates opening for John Prine and touring alongside Neko Case. Opening the evening is Georgia Maq, best known as the frontwoman of the revered Australian punk trio Camp Cope; her solo work takes a turn toward bright, catchy electro-pop, as heard on her 2019 debut *Pleaser* and subsequent singles. Together, the bill offers a night of soulful, unflinching pop and rock from two distinctive voices.
