David W. Chappell's "Birthday Celebration"
David W. Chappell celebrates his birthday with a performance in Blues Alley’s November Jazz Guitar Series. The Washington, DC native and award-winning guitarist brings a soulful, imaginative approach to jazz, rock, roots, and improvisation, with a repertoire ranging from Horace Silver to Santo & Johnny.
Chappell has received Washington Area Music Association WAMMIES for Musician of the Year, Rock Instrumentalist of the Year, and Roots Rock Instrumentalist of the Year. He has also performed with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame figures Jerry Lee Lewis, Percy Sledge, and Johnny Johnson, and credits the late Danny Gatton as an important musical influence.
