Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, an ARIA Award-winning indie-rock four-piece from Australia, brings their energetic and boundary-pushing set to Union Stage in Washington, DC. The band — Anna Ryan on vocals and guitar, Scarlett McKahey on guitar and vocals, Jaida Stephenson on bass, and Neve van Boxsel on drums — have built a devoted following since their 2022 debut EP *Pretty Good For A Girl Band*, whose lead single “Girl Sports” cracked the triple j Hottest 100. Their debut album *I Love You* (2023) reached #6 on the ARIA Charts, and its deluxe edition *I Love You Too* (2024) featured collaborations with Softcult and The Linda Lindas. Their second album *GLORY*, produced with Grammy-winning producer Catherine Marks, is scheduled for release on November 7, 2025, ahead of this performance.
The band has earned nominations and wins at the ARIA Awards, J Awards, APRA Awards, Rolling Stone Awards, AIR Awards, and Music ACT Awards, and have been tapped to open for Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. Known for blending sharp, punky songwriting with a focus on issues facing women, non-binary people, and young people, they serve as ambassadors for Green Music's No Music on a Dead Planet and actively support the Australian live music community. This free show at Union Stage offers a chance to catch a band that continues to push expectations both on and off the stage.
