Free Guided Tour of The Arts Club
The Arts Club of Washington offers a docent-led tour of its historic clubhouse at the National Register-listed address it has occupied since 1916. The 45-minute tour covers the club’s history and activities, its notable members, and the distinguished former residents of the two mansions now occupied by the organization, including President James Monroe and First Lady Elizabeth Monroe, as well as Civil War General Robert MacFeely.
The tour is open to the public, but participation is limited because of the clubhouse’s small spaces. An RSVP is required to guarantee a place, although walk-ins may be admitted if space allows.
