DAMIEN JURADO

Tue, Sep 22, 2026at 7:30 PM
1811 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC
Price not available
Featuring: Damien Jurado, St. Yuma

Damien Jurado performs at the Black Cat with support from St. Yuma. The show centers on Jurado’s deeply cinematic songwriting and material from *Reggae Film Star*, his 18th full-length album and second release on his own Maraqopa Records label.

The album moves through dreamlike scenes of performers, film sets, studio audiences, camera operators, grocery stores, parking lots, and the Pacific Northwest and desert Southwest. Its sound blends romantic AM pop, 1960s psychedelia, driving rock and roll, Latin-inflected shuffles, and atmospheric indie rock, with strings, piano, and melodic bass supporting Jurado’s distinctive, intimate voice. Produced by Jurado with multi-instrumentalist Josh Gordon and engineer Alex Bush at Sonikwire studio in Irvine, California, the record continues the imaginative approach of 2021’s *The Monster Who Hated Pennsylvania*.
