1600 21st Street Northwest, Washington, DC
Price not available

The Women of Abstract Expressionism with Grace McCormick is an in-person Living Room lecture and discussion at the Phillips Collection. Part of the museum’s series of intimate conversations, this program features Curatorial Assistant Grace McCormick, who will explore the contributions and influence of women artists within the exhibition *Miró and the United States* and the broader artistic networks surrounding Joan Miró. The talk sheds light on underrepresented voices in Abstract Expressionism, drawing connections to the museum’s collection and the legacy of the movement. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to engage in a dialogue that connects the exhibition to wider discussions about gender and art history.

When: Saturday, June 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Venue: The Phillips Collection, Living Room (in-person program).
Speaker: Grace McCormick, Curatorial Assistant at The Phillips Collection, who assisted in the research and development of the exhibition *Miró and the United States*. She holds an MA in Art History from American University, where her research focused on contemporary American art, identity formation, and the politics of representation and display. Her work examines how artists negotiate race, gender, and queerness through visual culture and museum space.
Tickets: Price not available. The Phillips Collection notes that it provides free events; however, registration may be required. Please check the museum’s website or contact reservations for details.
Accessibility: To request an accessibility service, email reservations@phillipscollection.org in advance of your visit. Providing two weeks’ notice is recommended but not required; full efforts will be made to accommodate requests.
Note: This program is offered in conjunction with the special exhibition *Miró and the United States*, on view March 21 through July 5, 2026.
