The Thrills

The Thrills bring a high-energy rock-and-roll performance to Hank Dietle’s Tavern, led by DC-area singer-guitarist David Kitchen. The quartet features veteran musicians from the Washington, DC, and Charlottesville scenes, with a combined background spanning roots rock, country, blues, and regional touring acts.

The band’s lineup includes Kitchen on lead vocals and guitar, Andy Rutherford on guitar, slide guitar, and vocals, Johnny Combs on bass and vocals, and Brian Alpert on drums and vocals. Their performance is presented as “spine-tingling” rock and roll.

David Kitchen: Lead vocalist and guitarist with deep roots in the DC music community. He is a multiple WAMMIE Award winner for his work with the David Kitchen Band and the Thrillbillys.

Andy Rutherford: Guitarist, slide guitarist, and vocalist who has been active in the DC area for more than 35 years. His WAMMIE-recognized work includes performances with the Thrillbillys, Ruthie and the Wranglers, and Little Pink.

Johnny Combs: Bassist and vocalist with more than four decades in the DC music scene. His credits include Evan Johns and the H-Bombs, Tex Rubinowitz, Pink and Black, and Doc Scantlin and the Imperial Palms Orchestra.

Brian Alpert: Drummer and vocalist with extensive experience in the DC and Charlottesville music communities. He has played with Cowboy Jazz, the Assassins, and Doc Scantlin and the Imperial Palms Orchestra, and toured with guitarist Danny Gatton.
