Ford’s For Me is a sensory-friendly museum experience at Ford’s Theatre for families and visitors with sensory sensitivities, including people with autism. Presented in partnership with the National Park Service, the program adjusts the museum environment to provide a calmer, more welcoming, and accommodating visit.

Adaptations may include lower sound levels, fewer crowds, reduced wait times, thematic activities, and advance materials explaining what to expect. Staff are trained to respond to visitors’ needs, and participants may use tablets or smartphones for communication. Pre-visit resources include a social narrative and sensory maps of Ford’s Theatre, the museum, the theatre, and the Center for Education and Leadership.

When: Saturday, September 19, 2026

Showtimes: 9–11 a.m.

Run time: Approximately two hours

Ages: Recommended for ages 6 and older

Tickets: Free

Venue: Ford’s Theatre

Accessibility: The program is designed for visitors with sensory sensitivities and may include reduced sound, limited crowds, shorter waits, preparatory materials, and staff trained to provide individualized assistance.

Pre-visit materials: Participants can review “Going to Ford’s Theatre: A Pre-Visit Story” and sensory maps for the theatre, museum, and Center for Education and Leadership before attending.

Additional note: The page indicates that more programming for older children and young adults is planned for the fall.
