An Evening with Mike Dawes
An Evening with Mike Dawes features the English guitarist celebrated for composing, arranging, and performing multiple musical parts simultaneously on a single guitar. The performance is part of the Jammin Java and Union Stage Presents 25th anniversary concert series, with commemorative merchandise available through the anniversary Gift Shop.
Dawes is regarded as one of the world’s leading modern fingerstyle guitarists. His repertoire includes original viral compositions and inventive arrangements, including his solo version of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which attracted tens of millions of YouTube views. Other widely viewed pieces include “One,” “The Impossible,” and “Jump.” He was voted “Best Acoustic Guitarist in the World” by Total Guitar Magazine and MusicRadar readers in 2017 and 2018, and has received praise from Rick Beato as one of the finest acoustic guitar players in the world.
His collaborations include work with GRAMMY Award-winning guitarist Tommy Emmanuel on the duet album *Accomplice Vol. 3*, the GRAMMY-nominated metal band Periphery, and Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues. Dawes is featured on several Hayward live releases, including *Spirits…Live*, which reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard chart. Beyond performing, he has written for *Guitar World* and *Acoustic Guitar*, taught masterclasses internationally, created guitar apps, published degree-level educational material, and served as a television judge on SKY TV’s *Guitar Star*. His other work includes electric-guitar contributions to the soundtrack for Ubisoft’s *Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown* and session appearances on programs including AMC’s *Better Call Saul*.
