Folger Shakespeare Library: Elise Ansel
Elise Ansel’s exhibition at the Folger Shakespeare Library presents contemporary work grounded in research into the library’s Shakespearean and artistic holdings. It is part of Contemporary Art at the Folger, a rotating series featuring artists who have received Folger Artist Fellowships. Ansel’s work challenges the traditionally male-centered perspective of “Old Master” painting and offers new ways of viewing and engaging with Henry Fuseli’s 1793 painting *Macbeth Consulting the Vision*.
The Folger’s artist-fellow exhibitions are presented in boutique-style solo shows featuring selected works by artists from across the country. The page describes this exhibition series as running from October 2025 through April 2026.
