National Symphony Orchestra: Josefowicz & Adams: Scheherazade Two Point Oh!
The National Symphony Orchestra presents a program about outsiders, rebels, and unconventional heroes, led by composer and conductor John Adams with violinist Leila Josefowicz. The concert pairs Adams’s reworking of Astor Piazzolla tangos with Sergei Prokofiev’s satirical *Lieutenant Kijé* suite, concluding with Adams’s *Scheherazade.2*, a forceful reinterpretation of the legendary heroine as a woman struggling for survival rather than merely serving as a storyteller.
