O How Glorious: Music for Heaven
O How Glorious: Music for Heaven is a concert focused on the theme of heaven as humanity’s true homeland and ultimate spiritual destination. Presented in November as a reflection on that goal, the program combines organ repertoire with choral music performed by the Cathedral Choir and its section leaders.
Organist Jon Laird of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Annandale joins the Cathedral Choir for music by Bach, Brahms, Reger, Victoria, Stanford, Willan, and Howells. The program’s devotional theme is reflected in its title and in a text celebrating the glory of the kingdom where the saints rejoice in Christ.
