Allison Russell
Allison Russell brings her acclaimed blend of roots, soul, folk, and socially conscious songwriting to 9:30 Club, with singer-songwriter Autumn Nicholas opening. Montreal-born and Nashville-based, Russell is an award-winning musician, producer, author, actor, and human rights advocate whose work combines personal storytelling with themes of resilience, community, and justice.
Russell’s solo albums include *Outside Child* (2021) and *The Returner* (2023). Before launching her solo career, she co-founded and toured internationally with Po’Girl, Birds of Chicago, and Our Native Daughters. She is also a member of Joni Mitchell’s Joni Jam and leads the Rainbow Coalition ensemble. Her recent work includes touring with Hozier, co-writing “Human Mind” with Hozier for Mavis Staples, and making her Broadway debut as Persephone in *Hadestown*. She has earned eight Grammy nominations and one win, along with Juno, Americana, Canadian Folk Music, International Folk Music, UK Americana, and other honors. Her third album is planned for release in 2026.
Autumn Nicholas brings a sound rooted in soul, folk, and contemporary acoustic pop. Their emotionally direct songwriting explores vulnerability, healing, love, and resilience, while their live performances aim to create an intimate, welcoming space for reflection and connection.
