Vignettes
Vignettes is a solo exhibition by David Ibata examining the experiences and cultural forces that shaped him as both a person and an artist. Drawing on his upbringing in Maryland and Washington, D.C., during a period of major social and cultural change, the exhibition reflects on the people, places, images, films, music, and exposure to violence that informed his perspective and visual language.
The exhibition presents oil paintings that engage with memory, generational trauma, identity, danger, role models, and the media that shaped Ibata’s imagination.
