Why?

WHY? is the long-running project of Yoni Wolf, whose latest album, *Oh Golly / Yes Lord*, examines middle-aged uncertainty, loneliness, online dating, social media, and the difficulty of forming genuine connections in a digitally mediated world. The album turns Wolf’s personal doubts and contradictions into raw, confessional songs that move between anxiety, self-deprecation, yearning, humor, and the possibility of healing.

The record is divided into two contrasting perspectives: “Oh Golly,” representing frustration and a difficult attitude, and “Yes Lord,” suggesting acceptance and gratitude. Drawing on the period after a painful breakup and Wolf’s attempts to date and rebuild his life, the songs explore the tension between opposing emotional states rather than offering easy resolutions. Musically, the project continues WHY?’s history of shifting between rap, folk, indie rock, electronic textures, and experimental arrangements.
