Lucy (Cooper B. Handy)

LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) brings an experimental blend of indie and hip-hop to Songbyrd Music House, with support from WifiGawd. Handy, who was born in Cape Cod and is based in Western Massachusetts, began releasing music under the LUCY name in 2009. He has built an extensive, largely self-released catalog of music and videos created and shared with unusual immediacy.

His work is exploratory, unpolished, and sometimes abrasive, drawing on GarageBand production, sample packs, and synthesizer sounds. His prolific output and compelling live shows have earned him a dedicated following on the DIY circuit, where he has performed in basements and warehouses around the country. His songs pair eccentric, earnest experimentation with concise lyrics that convey considerable insight.
