Studio Sessions at Met Park is a relaxed, creatively charged series held on the first and third Thursdays in May and June 2026 at Metropolitan Park in Arlington, Virginia. Hosted by MoCA Arlington, each session pairs a drop-in art activity led by a local artist with live jazz music curated by DC Jazz Fest, encouraging attendees to create at their own pace. Materials, techniques, and ideas change weekly, and mocktails and food are available for purchase. Participants are welcome to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the evening vibes.

When: 1st and 3rd Thursdays from May 7 to June 18, 2026, from 5pm to 7pm.
Showtimes: Each session runs 5pm–7pm. No advance showtimes; drop in anytime during that window.
Tickets: Free to attend. No registration required.
Lineup: May 7 — Artist Spotlight: David Ignacio, activity: “Even Colors Dance: Synesthetic Watercolor Painting”; musical artist: The JoGo Project (Jazz Meets Go-Go). May 21 — Artist Spotlight: Jaqui Falkenheim, activity: “Paper Garden Postcard Collage”; musical artist: Joe Brotherton (New Orleans). June 4 — Artist Spotlight: Lauren Crawford, activity: “Stitching Systems: Mapping Home”; musical artist: Eric Byrd Trio (Acoustic Jazz Piano/Vocals). June 18 — Artist Spotlight: JD Deardourff, activity: “Day Inking with JD: Screenprints and Brain Vacation Collaging”; musical artist: José Luiz Martins (Brazilian Jazz).
Run time: Two hours per session.
Ages: All ages welcome. No experience required.
Venue: Metropolitan Park, 1400 S Elm St, Arlington, VA 22202. Free parking is available in the parking garage at 525 14th Street S after 4pm for up to 3 hours.
