Giles Corey
Giles Corey brings a live performance shaped by the tension between intimacy and overwhelming sound. The set centers on stark vocals and acoustic instruments, then expands through unstable electronics and arrangements that can shift from quiet, restrained passages into physically powerful walls of sound.
The project originated with Giles Corey’s self-titled 2011 album, which began under an acoustic-instruments-only limitation before growing to include guitar, piano, spectral choirs, heavy organ, field recordings, and other layered textures. Its material addresses depression, death, history, and the paranormal, moving between private confession, quiet desperation, cathartic release, and a communal atmosphere that many listeners have compared to ritual or religious experience. Barrett leads the 2026–27 live set. Kathryn Mohr and Val Acton Loper are also scheduled to perform.
