Romero Lubambo and Chico Pinheiro - Brazilian Jazz Series
Romero Lubambo and Chico Pinheiro headline Blues Alley’s Brazilian Jazz Series with a guitar-centered performance that brings together Brazilian musical traditions, classical influences, American jazz, and improvisation. Lubambo is celebrated for a versatile, highly individual sound that ranges from Brazilian rhythms to hard bop, while Pinheiro is known for fluid playing and compositions that combine Brazilian music, classical music, and jazz.
Romero Lubambo moved to the United States in 1985 and has performed or recorded with artists including Dianne Reeves, Billie Eilish, Yo-Yo Ma, Herbie Mann, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall, Gal Costa, Kurt Elling, Kenny Barron, Luciana Souza, Paquito D’Rivera, and many others. He is also a composer and a member of the Grammy-nominated Brazilian jazz trio Trio Da Paz.
Born and raised in São Paulo, Chico Pinheiro began playing guitar at age six and was working as a studio guitarist by age 14. He formed his own band in 2002 and released his debut album, *Meia Noite Meio Dia*, in 2003. The album received strong reviews in Brazil and abroad and featured vocal guests including Lenine, Ed Motta, Chico César, and Maria Rita. Pinheiro has received two American Grammy nominations, in 2019 and 2020.

Doors: Sunday doors open at 4:30 PM for the earlier performance and 7:15 PM for the later performance.
