The Keyboard Trust Concert: Chenyu Wang

The Keyboard Charitable Trust and the Arts Club of Washington present pianist Chenyu Wang in a classical recital at the Arts Club of Washington. The evening includes works by Bach, Chopin, Scriabin, and Schubert, followed by a meet-the-artist reception with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres.

Wang, a 23-year-old pianist from Zhuhai, China, is currently pursuing graduate studies at Boston’s New England Conservatory with Alexander Korsantia and Alessio Bax. The concert is sponsored by the Keyboard Trust and the Robert Turnbull Piano Foundation and is open to the public.

Schedule: The bar opens at 6:30 p.m. The piano performance begins at 7:00 p.m., with the meet-the-artist reception following the performance. The event is scheduled to conclude at 9:00 p.m.

Program: J.S. Bach, Egon Petri’s arrangement of the Chorale from the Birthday Cantata in B-flat major, BWV 208; Frédéric Chopin, Barcarolle, Op. 60; Alexander Scriabin, Piano Sonata No. 5, Op. 53; and Franz Schubert, Drei Klavierstücke, D. 946.

About Chenyu Wang: Wang is studying for a Master of Music degree and Graduate Diploma at the New England Conservatory. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree with First-Class Honours from London’s Royal Academy of Music in 2024, where she studied with Ian Fountain on a full scholarship. Upon graduation, she received the Edna Bralesford Piano Prize for the year’s highest recital mark.

Performance Background: Wang has appeared at Jordan Hall in Boston; St James’s Piccadilly and Steinway Hall in London; the Wiener Saal of the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg; the concert hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw; and Oratorio di Santa Caterina in Cervo, among other venues. She has taken part in the Oxford Piano Festival, Morningside Music Bridge, the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, where she attended in 2024 with a full Polonsky Foundation Fellowship. Her mentors and collaborators have included Arie Vardi, Michel Béroff, Steven Kovacevich, Arnulf von Arnim, Eleanor Wong, Aquiles Delle Vigne, and Sa Chen.

Early Training: From 2014 through 2020, Wang studied with Tiandong Huang at the Music School attached to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China. During that period she received scholarships and concerto prizes, performed a recital at Guangzhou Steinway Hall, and won first prize in the Xinghai Cup Piano Competition.

About the Keyboard Trust: Founded in 1991, the Keyboard Charitable Trust supports highly talented keyboard players between the ages of 18 and 30 by creating performance opportunities and helping them establish professional careers. In partnership with venues in seven principal countries, it has presented more than 300 young pianists, historical keyboard performers, and organists in over 900 concerts. The Trust is funded entirely through voluntary donations.

Reception: The ticket price includes the post-concert meet-the-artist reception, open bar, and hors d’oeuvres.

Tickets: Arts Club members pay $40 per person; non-members pay $50 per person.

Registration: The event is open to the public. Members must RSVP, and the $40 charge is applied to their account. Non-members may purchase tickets online. Guests must be registered.

Ticket Policy: Tickets are non-refundable. Online payments may be canceled for account credit up to 72 hours before the event. Members may cancel reservations without a penalty until the day before the event.
