Robert Lighthouse

Robert Lighthouse brings his Mississippi Delta blues to Hank Dietle’s Tavern in a performance featuring simultaneous guitar and harmonica playing. Originally from Sweden, Lighthouse came to the United States at 18 to study the blues, spending eight years traveling to important blues centers including Chicago’s Maxwell Street and New Orleans before settling in Washington, DC, in 1988. He developed a following as a street musician, toured Belgium and the Netherlands with the Charlie Sayles Band, and later held a regular engagement at City Blues Cafe.

His career includes two appearances representing the Washington area at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge, one with a band and one as a solo artist. His albums include the critically acclaimed *Drive-Thru Love* from 1998 and *Deep Down in the Mud*, released in 2007. His guitar and harmonica work has earned praise from blues publications in the United States, Europe, and Australia, and he has been compared to Dr. Ross.
