Robert Lighthouse
Swedish-born blues musician Robert Lighthouse brings his Mississippi Delta blues to Hank Dietle’s Tavern. A guitarist and harmonica player known for performing both instruments simultaneously, Lighthouse developed his distinctive style through years of travel across the United States, studying the blues in places including Chicago’s Maxwell Street and New Orleans.
After settling in Washington, DC, in 1988, he built a following as a street musician, toured Belgium and Holland with the Charlie Sayles Band, and held a regular engagement at City Blues Cafe. He has represented the DC area twice at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge, once with a band and once as a solo performer. His recordings include the critically acclaimed albums *Drive-Thru Love* (1998) and *Deep Down in the Mud* (2007). The page also features video performances titled “She’s the One I Love” and “Ukrainian Tour Blues,” along with praise for his guitar work and harmonica playing from blues publications and organizations.
