The Format

Fri, Oct 2, 2026at 7:30 PM
1215 U Street Northwest, Washington, DC
Price not available
Featuring: The Format, Get Up Kids, Nate Ruess, Sam Means

The Format returns to the stage with founding members Nate Ruess and Sam Means following a long period apart. The reunion centers on their third album, *Boycott Heaven*, a record that combines the duo’s retro-pop and pop-punk roots with alt-rock, grunge, folk, and more mature reflections on family, friendship, faith, loss, and the possibility of a better future.

The album grew out of music Ruess and Means began developing in 2024, nearly two decades after their previous record. They recorded at Henson Recording Studios with Grammy-winning producer Brendan O’Brien, who also played bass, and drummer Matt Chamberlain. Songs range from the power-pop track “Depressed” and the single “Holy Roller” to the folk ballad “Right Where I Belong,” the anthem “No You Don’t,” and the album-closing “Back To Life.” The new material marks both a continuation of The Format’s earlier work, *Interventions + Lullabies* and *Dog Problems*, and a new chapter shaped by the duo’s years apart.
