Opening Celebration: Light Is a Plastic Medium
Celebrate the opening of *Light Is a Plastic Medium: The Photography of Carlotta Corpron* at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. This in-person evening introduces the work of American abstract photographer and educator Carlotta Corpron (1901–1988), whose experiments with light, form, and technology from the mid-1930s through the 1950s helped advance photography’s recognition as a fine art.
The program includes opportunities to learn about Corpron’s life and artistic achievements from specialists in the field, explore all of the museum’s galleries, and enjoy refreshments available for purchase from Dolcezza. The event is intended for visitors of all ages, though attendance is limited and access to talks depends on gallery capacity.
