Jubilee: Celebrating 25 Years of The Driskell Center Opening

Join the David C. Driskell Center for the opening reception of *Jubilee: Celebrating 25 Years of The Driskell Center*, a yearlong exhibition marking a quarter-century of the Center’s dedication to the visual arts and culture of African Americans and the African diaspora. The evening will feature more than 70 works drawn from the Center’s historic art collection, curated by Dr. Adrienne Childs, and will offer a chance to reflect on the Center’s history while looking forward to the next 25 years. Attendees will explore prevalent subjects, aesthetic trends, and concerns that Black artists have engaged with from the early 20th century to the contemporary moment.

When: Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Showtimes: The opening reception takes place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the event date.

Venue: David C. Driskell Center, Cole Student Activities Building, Room 1214, at the University of Maryland.

Exhibition: The *Jubilee* exhibition runs for a full year and highlights more than 70 works from the Center’s collection, featuring subjects and aesthetic trends that Black artists have explored from the early 1900s to the present.
