Friday Night Services + Dinner at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue is an inclusive Shabbat evening that blends contemporary and traditional elements, making it welcoming for newcomers and regulars alike. Led by Rabbi Jenna Shaw alongside the synagogue’s musicians, the evening features uplifting music, a thought-provoking sermon, and a kosher-style pescatarian dinner. The program begins with a 21+ happy hour, followed by a spirited service, and concludes with a community dinner. The event is designed to offer a familiar yet fresh Shabbat experience, with an emphasis on accessibility and connection.
When: Friday, July 24, 2026, from 6:00 pm to approximately 9:00 pm ET.
Showtimes: 6:00 pm – Happy Hour (21+), 7:00 pm – Service, 8:15 pm – Dinner.
Tickets: Service admission is free with registration. Dinner tickets are available at a subsidized price of $18 for young professionals or those with financial need, or at the actual cost of $45 for those who can cover the full expense. A $5 fee may apply. Tickets are non-refundable and must be purchased online in advance.
Lineup: Rabbi Jenna Shaw leads the service with Sixth & I’s musicians.
Run time: Approximately 2–3 hours total (happy hour, service, and dinner).
Ages: The happy hour portion is for attendees 21 and older; the service and dinner are open to all ages.
Venue: Sixth & I Historic Synagogue, located at 600 I Street NW, Washington, DC.
Menu: Dinner includes a starter of mini olive and onion flatbread (vegetarian) and spinach, artichoke, and parmesan dip (vegetarian, GF). Main courses: eggplant parmesan (vegetarian; vegan and GF options available by request), old-fashioned corn pudding (vegetarian; vegan and GF by request), tomato, cucumber, and basil salad (vegetarian; vegan and GF by request), and chickpea, carrot, and almond salad (vegan, GF). Dessert is a brownie ice cream sundae (vegetarian; vegan and GF option by request). The meal is kosher-style pescatarian. A vegetarian hechshered kosher meal must be requested by 9:00 am on Friday, July 17; other dietary requests can be made by contacting Erica by Friday, July 17.
