The Meaning of Home: A Treasures Zine Project
The Meaning of Home: A Treasures Zine Project is a hands-on, drop-in workshop on July 22, 2026, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Participants explore the theme of home by creating their own zine—a DIY form of free expression with deep roots in African American independent publishing. The workshop is welcoming to all, whether attending solo or with friends and family. Museum staff guide attendees as they collage personal documents, drawings, images, and words to craft a representation of home, contributing to a dynamic community zine that celebrates the meaning of home. Guests are encouraged to bring up to three printed personal photos to incorporate into their artwork; all other materials are provided. The workshop is free and open to all ages, with no experience necessary.
