Jane Monheit - "The Merriest"
Jane Monheit presents “The Merriest,” a holiday-season jazz performance at Blues Alley. A celebrated jazz and adult-contemporary vocalist devoted to the Great American Songbook, Monheit brings more than two decades of international touring, acclaimed recordings, and collaborations with leading jazz musicians to this appearance.
Monheit’s career accelerated after she placed second in the Thelonious Monk Competition during her senior year at Manhattan School of Music. She went on to perform and record with artists including Tommy Flanagan, Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, Terence Blanchard, Ivan Lins, Tom Harrell, John Pizzarelli, Christian McBride, Vince Mendoza, and Jorge Calandrelli. Her music has appeared on television and in films including *Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow* and *Never Let Me Go*. She has released 12 studio albums, performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, the Village Vanguard, and Birdland, and also writes English lyrics for Ivan Lins.

Performer: Jane Monheit
Background: Monheit studied woodwinds and piano as a child, sang for a decade in award-winning choirs, and participated in community theater on Long Island before focusing her career on jazz and Songbook interpretation. She has also taught and mentored students internationally and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, drummer Rick Montalbano, and their son.
Food and beverage minimum: Each guest must purchase at least $15 in food or beverages, not included in the ticket price.
Seating and doors: Seating is first come, first served at the door. For the 7:00 PM Monday-through-Saturday performance, doors open at 6:00 PM.
Ticket policy: All sales are final. Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Performance rules: Photography and recording are prohibited during the performance. Guests are asked to keep conversation to a minimum while the show is in progress.
