Shanghai Ballet: Butterfly Lovers
Shanghai Ballet, one of China's foremost ballet companies, brings its celebrated production of *Butterfly Lovers* to the Center for the Arts. Since its founding in 1979, the company has earned 32 international medals and performed at venues such as Lincoln Center and the London Coliseum. *Butterfly Lovers*, choreographed by Xin Lili with music by Xu Jianqiang, is often compared to *Romeo and Juliet* for its timeless story of love and sacrifice. The ballet blends classical ballet precision with poetic Chinese storytelling, described by critics as possessing "rare beauty and technical perfection." The performance features sweeping choreography and sumptuous design.
