Sleepy Hollow

Synetic Theater presents a wordless, physical-theater adaptation of Washington Irving’s *The Legend of Sleepy Hollow*. Set in a haunted village where the past will not remain buried, the production follows the return of a Hessian soldier who was beheaded during the Revolutionary War. As the Headless Horseman searches the forests for what was taken from him, the familiar legend becomes a supernatural story of love, guilt, revenge, and redemption, blending gothic horror with striking theatrical imagery and spectacle.

The production is performed in the intimate 150-seat Theatre Lab and explores whether the greatest monsters are restless spirits or the human actions people try to forget. The Washington Post described the work as an intense saga involving war, romantic rivalry, and supernatural revenge.
