Jukebox the Ghost: HalloQueen
Jukebox the Ghost’s HalloQueen is a Halloween concert built around the band’s love of Queen. The piano-pop trio performs a complete set of its own songs, followed after a brief intermission and costume contest by a second set of Queen classics. The latter features Queen-inspired regalia and a deliberately arena-sized performance, with the trio re-creating the spirit of Queen while adding its own musical personality.
Ben Thornewill delivers a classically trained piano performance and a Freddie Mercury-inspired vocal impression. Tommy Siegel handles guitar, bass, and vocals while drawing on the styles of both Brian May and John Deacon, and Jesse Kristin provides drums and vocals in the role of Roger Taylor. The band’s treatment includes crowd participation and a playful, theatrical approach rather than a straightforward cover-band performance.
HalloQueen began as an annual tradition in 2015 and has grown into a frequently sold-out touring event. Jukebox the Ghost formed in 2006 and has played more than 1,000 shows worldwide. The trio has toured with artists including Ingrid Michaelson, Ben Folds, Guster, Motion City Soundtrack, A Great Big World, and Jack’s Mannequin, and has appeared at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, and Bottlerock, as well as on *The Late Show with David Letterman* and *Conan*.
