Sweet Honey in the Rock is a Grammy-nominated African American vocal ensemble celebrating its long musical history through a three-year anniversary program. Founded in Washington, D.C., in 1973, the group has built its work around empowerment, education, and entertainment while creating socially conscious music across multiple genres and generations.

The performance engages with subjects including civil and human rights, women’s issues, gun violence, death, love, spirituality, and children’s music. The ensemble’s current roster features Carol Maillard, Louise Robinson, Aisha Kahlil, Nitanju Bolade Casel, and Rochelle Rice, joined by Romeir Mendez on upright acoustic/electric bass and American Sign Language interpreter Barbara Hunt.
