The R&B Club Celebrates 50 Years of “Songs in the Key of Life”

The R&B Club presents a musical book-club-style gathering devoted to Stevie Wonder’s *Songs in the Key of Life*, held in recognition of the album’s 50th anniversary. The discussion will consider the record’s place within Wonder’s career, including its songwriting, production, and artistic ambition, with “As” offered as one example of the album’s exceptional work.

The session will also provide context on how unlikely the album’s creation seemed in the mid-1970s, after Wonder had released *Music of My Mind*, *Talking Book*, *Innervisions*, and *Fulfillingness’ First Finale* in succession. The R&B Club describes *Songs in the Key of Life* as the crowning achievement of the most fruitful period of his career.
