Angelo De Augustine

Angelo De Augustine returns to Union Stage with *Angel in Plainclothes*, his fifth album and a deeply personal record shaped by healing, renewal, fragility, and the possibility of starting over. The music draws on his experience recovering from an undiagnosed illness that required him to relearn basic abilities, while exploring the relationships and encouragement that helped him move forward.

The album features De Augustine’s melodic, emotionally direct songwriting across songs including the elegiac “Empty Shell,” the hopeful “Spirit of the Unknown,” and the psychedelic country-influenced “Mirror Mirror.” He wrote, recorded, arranged, produced, and mixed the album at his Southern California studio, A Secret Place. It is also his first album in several years to feature outside collaborators, including string arranger Oliver Hill, harpist Leng Bian, background vocalist and percussionist Wendy Fraser, Thomas Bartlett, and Jonathan Wilson. “The Cure,” played and co-produced by Wilson, is among the collaborations highlighted by the event page. Erin Rae joins De Augustine for this performance.
