Angelo De Augustine brings his deeply personal, folk-rooted songwriting to Washington, D.C.'s Union Stage on Monday, October 5, 2026, for a headline show featuring special guest Erin Rae. The performance comes on the heels of his fifth album, *Angel in Plainclothes*, which the singer-songwriter describes as his most inspired work yet, documenting a multi-year journey of healing after an undiagnosed illness forced him to relearn fundamental skills. The songs on the record move through themes of fragility, second chances, and the slow process of rebuilding a life, with De Augustine noting that he feels he was given a second chance and is still figuring out who he is now. The album includes standouts such as the haunting elegy "Empty Shell," the hopeful "Spirit of the Unknown," and the psychedelic country piece "Mirror Mirror."

The record was written, recorded, arranged, produced, and mixed entirely by De Augustine at his Southern California studio, A Secret Place. It also marks his first time in years welcoming collaborators, including string arranger Oliver Hill, harpist Leng Bian, background vocalist and percussionist Wendy Fraser, producer Thomas Bartlett, and Jonathan Wilson, who played drums on and co-produced "The Cure." The album is scheduled for release on April 24 via Asthmatic Kitty Records, and De Augustine has said he hopes the songs offer listeners the same reassurance and sense that miracles are possible that he received from loved people during his recovery. This Union Stage date is part of the album's supporting tour, bringing that message of hope to an intimate D.C. room.
