Haydn: Symphony No. 100, the “Military” / Beethoven: Symphony No. 7

The Smithsonian Academy Orchestra, the resident ensemble of the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, presents an evening of classical masterpieces performed on period-appropriate instruments. Under the direction of conductor Kenneth Slowik, the program features Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 100, the “Military,” known for its dramatic percussion and fanfares, followed by Beethoven’s widely celebrated Symphony No. 7. This concert serves as a prelude to the 2026 National Orchestral Institute + Festival, with the Academy Orchestra joined by NOI+F Smithsonian Academy fellows.

Venue: Dekelboum Concert Hall, The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (University of Maryland). General admission seating.

Tickets: Regular $20 plus a $5 booking fee; Student/Youth $10. Note that balcony seating will be closed for this performance.
